This is one of my favorite double-sided entries to date. I hope you find it interesting to read. The first page is about a recent movie that I watched. It is called the Illusionist. It is a really great movie. I recommend it to anyone. Hopefully if you watch it, you will enjoy it as much as I did. The right page is about the jewelry I made last weekend. I really like them. The colors are really pretty. I hope you can read my journal without too much difficulty. Sorry.
Chloe I really like the earrings you made and I think that they are super cute. I was wondering where you learned how to make them and if you are in Jewelry now. I've not had the chance to see the Illusionist but I have also heard from other people that it is a really good movie and I can;t wait to see it.

You: So currently how many entries do you have?
Me: Well, right now I have 15 completed entries and 3 incomplete entries. So that is a total of 18 entries. I am trying to get to a total of 21 entries because my CP book is going to be collected on Monday.
You: Good goal. What do you think is unique about your CP book?
Me: I have a lot of different random topics in my CP book. I also have notes from English class and a math problem that I was working on. But I also have some cool photos and cut outs.
You: How do choose what goes in your CP book?
Me: The first thing I do when I open up my CP book is I think if anything interesting happened to me. If something did happen, I write about it. If not, I try to write about something that I might want to remember for the future. You know, like when you try to take a picture of a moment. Well, I am trying to make a note that something happened and that I remember what I did. And the last choice is to add a photo.
You: Why do you add photos?
Me: I really like color and varieties of things. A picture is really worth 1,000 words. If you look in my CP book, you will see pictures of many different colors and objects. I usually select them if they are unique or had a message to get across.
You: What are you essential questions and how does it tie into your CP book?
Me: The essential questions are,
What will Hawaii be like in the future? Will it be fit to live in?
How will I further my knowledge and education?
What is the meaning of happiness and how do you achieve it?
What is my purpose?
When I write my entries, I don’t always think about the essential questions. I usually just write. Now that you asked, I feel that I need to tie my entries more into the questions. But some of my entries are indirectly related. For example, my entry on volunteering shows that I feel one of my purposes here one Earth is to help people. And my entry on the iPhone shows the aspect of trying to further my knowledge. And the entry on the jewelry helps answer the happiness question. This is because I feel some satisfaction when I make jewelry.
You: So what is you favorite entries and why?
Me: Right now, I have three favorite CP book entries. My first favorite entry is with the article on the movie the Illusionist. It liked this entry because it has a summary of the movie. My writing also showed how much I liked the movie. My second favorite entry is with the pictures of the jewelry I made. I like this entry because it reminds me of why I chose the colors I did and why I made them. It also helps me remember the history behind my entire jewelry making. The last favorite entry is of the Oreo cookie dressed up with a scuba diving mask. I really like this entry because it reflects back on the topic of a quintessential item. I liked that because it pulled my thoughts back to what I learned in class. One common thing about my favorite entries is that they all have pictures. I really like pictures. They mean and say a lot of things that I can’t write down.
You: What is your least favorite entry?
Me: I really didn’t like the Chemistry Honors entry. I remember when I was writing, I couldn’t think of anything to write about. So the only topic that came to mind was of Chemistry class. It is a really boring entry. Hopefully I can write about more significant things.
You: Do you see any reoccurring themes or patterns in your CP book?
Me: I see two. The first is writing about this same topic, such as, Holoku and volunteering. For Holoku, I wrote about my first rehearsal and about the pu’ili. The pu’ill is the instrument that we are using for my dance, which is called instrumental. The second pattern is that my writing style is very similar in every entry. They are usually summaries and reflections. Hopefully, later I can expand my writing format and try something new.
You: So I heard one of you New Year’s Resolution was to have neater handwriting. How do you think your handwriting is?
Me: I am definitely trying to keep my handwriting neat. It has always been a struggle of mine. I don’t know why but I feel my comfortable writing cursive. It is way faster and easier. But I always have to be conscious about my neatness and punctuations. It is really important.
You: Lastly, do you think the CP book is helping you become a better writer? And do you think you will try to continue to write in the CP book when class ends?
Me: I think that writing in the CP book is helping me be more comfortable writing. It has helped me realize what some of the aspects of writing that I need to improve on. If I keep trying to expand my writing styles I think I will get a lot better. And yes, I think I will try to put in an effort to continue to write in this CP book. Once again, it helps me gather my thoughts, reflect on my life, and be a place for me to collect my thoughts.
